Remedial massage is defined as the systematic assessment and treatment of the muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissues of the body to assist in rehabilitation, pain and injury management. It is performed to create favourable conditions that allow the body to return to normal health after injury, thereby relieving the physical effects a patient may present with. 

Remedial massage is designed to balance muscle and soft tissue length, tension and tone which will in turn promote normal return of joint/capsular/bone function. It increases the flow of blood and lymph, particularly in the injured areas, thus removing blockages, damaged cells, scar tissue and adhesions resulting from injury.

In simple terms remedial massage is designed to eliminate pain and restore optimal musculoskeletal function. It involves the use of a number of remedial techniques including trigger point therapy, muscle energy, cross fibre, positional release and myofascial techniques, deep tissue, mobilisations, stretches and low load and activation exercises to achieve results.
